I want to go to a liberal arts school to narrow down my interests, which are displayed through my course selection and EC’s, to find out what I really want to do. I visited Middlebury, and fell in love with everything about it. However, while my EC’s, scores, and junior year grades are in the ballpark for Middlebury, my freshman and sophomore year grades were terrible because I was hanging around with the wrong kids, who were a terrible influence on me, and the peer pressure and anxiety issues I had from hanging out with them made it harder for me to leave their group. When I matured, I ditched them for more studious and interesting friends, and turned my grades around.
I also visited Kenyon, and loved it. I know I have more of a chance there, or even at a place like Colby or Bates, which I am visiting this summer. However, I don’t love Kenyon AS MUCH, nor do I anticipate loving Colby or Bates as much as Middlebury. I’m going to ED somewhere, most likely Kenyon or Middlebury. What do I do? I love Midd, but my shot is so small.
