Early Decision Explanation

Hi all,

Just needed some clarification about ED. If I apply ED to a school, can I still apply EA (completely non-binding, non-restrictive EA, that is) to other schools under the condition that I withdraw if I get in ED?

I just saw multiple opinions regarding this point and needed some clarification. I would appreciate a source as well , if possible, for the info.

Thanks.

If you get accepted by the school you applied with ED, you will have to withdraw every acceptance and have to matriculate that school.

Sure, but can I still apply to other schools with nonbinding EA while applying ED?

yes

@LifeAsIKnowIt‌ Be careful of schools like Harvard which has SCEA. I think if you apply to any SCEA program, you aren’t allowed to apply early anywhere else.

Yes you can but be careful. Some schools will not allow you to.

These colleges practice restricted or single choice EA: Yale, Harvard, Princeton, Stanford.

Georgetown does not allow other ED applications but will allow other EA apps.
