Early Decision + Financial Aid

If I apply early, clearly I am not going to be able to comapre different offers - this I understand. However, if I do not check off the "Financial Aide Requirement Box" will I still be considered for need-based financial aide, just not scholarships? Or will I have to pay the full tuition, no discounts?

If you are being asked to check the box if you want to be considered for need based aid, not just scholarships, if you get no scholarship you could very well be writing your chec for the full cost of tuition. Remember that some scholarships are also need based.

I know some colleges say they do Need Blind Admissions, but how true is this? Would it be to my disadvantage (admissions wise) to check the box?

Many colleges profess need blind admissions, and quite a few may operate in that way (at least for US students). Some may fudge a bit. The best-endowed colleges are the most likely to be truly need-blind across the board.

If you don't check the financial aid box on your app, you may well miss out on both need-based and merit aid. Unless you are wealthy enough not to care, I'd recommend against leaving the aid box unchecked for the off-chance that you'll get an admissions boost.
