Early Decision for Class of 2018

My son clicked "send" yesterday on the common app (no fun to fill out with all of its glitches) and now the wait begins. It's my understanding that Vassar notifies electronically "in mid December." Does anyone have another info on that?

The evening of December 10 is when you will receive a decision. At least that’s what my friend said.

If you look at last years ED thread, acceptances were posted starting at 6:55 PM on 12/10/12.

Did you have to check a website or did they notify applicants by email?

December 10, 2012 was a Monday. I wonder if this means that decisions are more likely to be made available on December 9, 2013, which is a Monday, instead of December 10, 2013, which is a Tuesday?

let the nail-biting begin!

Why did you guys decide Vassar College ed1? I did too. Im just curious. (I mean what else are we going to do while we wait)

Why Vassar? Well, my son loved the school for many many reasons–its academic excellence, its real diversity, its gorgeous campus…but finally he chose it over Wesleyan and Bates, because it felt more intimate and friendly than the other schools.

Hi everyone! I applied ED1 as well, and I absolutely ADORE Vassar (as I’m sure you all do!)
For me, there are a million "why Vassar"s, particularly the top-knock academics, passionate students, commitment to social activism, and artistic/liberal atmosphere! There really are hundreds of reasons, though.

My grades aren’t stellar for Vassar: 3.8 (WEIGHTED) GPA, but I’m hoping my good standardized test scores, tough course load, extracurriculars, and recommendations will help.

It’s so bizarre to think the admissions people probably already decided on many of our fates. It’s scary, but kind of exciting at the same time.

Anyway, I hope we’re all classmates come fall! On another note, did you guys all submit something for Your Space?

Hi guys, I also applied ED1. I’ve been so anxious, mid-december can’t come soon enough! I loved the campus, the proximity to the city, the teachers. It just seemed to fit. I’m curious as to everyones stats. I have a 93/100 unweighted gpa and 96/100 weighted gpa. I’ve had great senior year grades, and got a 32 on the act, although it makes me nervous not to know my exact gpa on a 4.0 scale. Good luck to you all!!!

Your stats are awesome, chocolatepretzel! My unweighted is probably around 3.6 and my SAT is 2250, so not too great, but not terrible either (I hope)

That’s an awesome SAT emily, I did awful on the SAT, I got like a 1960 d: ACT was much more my thing. Gahh I’m so nervous, I just want to know the exact date decisions come out!

Hey guys!! I also applied ED1 and I’m literally the most nervous I’ve ever been. Vassar has been my dream school since my sophomore year so this is suuuuuuper scary for me. I have a 91/100 unweighted GPA which is pretty low for Vassar’s standards but I got a 32 on the ACTs and my superscored SAT is a 2180, both of which are at the top of Vassar’s mid-ranges. I’ve also taken 5 APs so far and I’m in 5 more this year (my school doesn’t weigh ANY grades), too, and my first quarter senior year grades as well as my junior year grades were really strong and my low GPA comes mostly from my freshman and sophomore years. I also am an extremely accomplished musician (I did an arts supplement in place of Your Space) and I have a host of other extracurriculars, with leadership positions in all of them, so I’m hoping those outweigh my low GPA. Vassar is honestly my dream school and I think I fell in love with it namely because of the academics (the open curriculum is a HUGE draw for me) and because of the people/culture. In my Why Vassar? essay I wrote about a Vassar sweatshirt I got my sophomore year and how I always get teased for wearing it so often and how strangers always ask if that’s where I go and how I hope that I can finally say yes when they ask. Gahhhh writing this made me even more nervous!! Good luck to everyone!!

Also, on a side note, has anybody had an interview yet??? I submitted my request form on November 7th and still haven’t heard anything back from anyone, aside from receiving a confirmation email that my form had been received. I’m super nervous because I think my personality could be shown even more in an interview, but seeing as decisions come out next week and no one’s contacted me at all I’m getting pretty nervous about not having one. I emailed the office last week but no one’s gotten back to me and I’m suuuuper nervous, so I was just wondering if any of you guys have had one?? I asked my friend who goes there (he’s a freshman) and he said he had his mid-November last year (he applied ED1, too) and that makes me even more nervous…

I applied ED1, too, but still haven’t heard from Vassar except for the applicant id…

Did Vassar just give sudden decisions on 12.10 in the past few years? So weird…

Hello all! I too have applied to Vassar ED I this fall. I’m fairly certain that the results will be out next week, but I have no idea what day it will actually be. We should be getting an email in the next few days that tells us exactly when the results will come out.

As far as my stats go…
-ACT: 32
-GPA: 4.0
-AP Lit:5, AP Eng Comp: 4, AP Art History: 5, AP Studio Art: 5, APUSH: 5, AP World: 5

I also submitted an arts supplement; my art can be seen on my blog: yungvermeer.■■■■■■■■■■

I’m so excited for next week to roll around! Hopefully it will be good news for all of us!

Hey, Nadelman! Did you receive any emails from Vassar after you submitted it? except for the applicant ID?

Hello! The only email I have received is the applicant ID and a response to a question I had about my checklist status. I’m starting to worry that they will be delaying decisions until a few days later than we had hoped.

Yea…I’m kinda worried, too… Vassar’s admission office is quite inactive compared to some other colleges that i’m also applying…like UVA’s
