More competition for Early Decision I:
How low do you think the ED acceptance rate will go because of this?
It was 25% last year.
It will probably go down a bit
@Orangeburst but nothing too drastic? I’m wondering if this is a game changer for ED or if its just like a 4%decrease in overall ED acceptance
It’s a game now.
Yeah, Bowdoin’s been trying to not let ED applicants have an edge over RD applicants for quite a while now. They’re trying to reduce the advantage that would come with applying ED which is opposite to what other colleges are doing so I don’t know what’s up with that. I wouldn’t be surprised if the ED acceptance rate is low this year.
@tryhard44 When we visited AD said they did not want the ED rate to go above 50% of the incoming class. So, the percentage of applicants that are offered a spot in ED will be smaller than previous years. That said, if you have already ED you might get waitlisted and then put into the RD pool, where having applied ED can only help because they know you are seriously interested.
@StuckInRemission I do wonder what happens to ED2 at Bowdoin this year, will there be literally ‘no spots’ or will they only accept X amount in ED1 to allow for some ED2 accepts. It would be weird to have the ED2 % be almost nil…
Does anyone know what ended up happening (in terms of acceptance rates) with Bowdoin’s last ED cycle?
