Early Decision I - Son's Chances?

My son has applied EDI at Skidmore after falling in love with the college. After visiting several (15 or so) colleges, Skidmore clearly is his first choice. I have a couple questions:

First, he has a 3.7 GPA taking all top level classes and got about a 1900 on his SAT's. He is applying to be an Economic major. He is very active with sports and student government. I think he also had a really good interview this summer at Skidmore. Is this good enough to get in?

Second, Skidmore says December 15th is when he will find out, so is this written in stone or do people find out earlier? How does one find out (by phone or letter)? I was wondering if anyone who went throught this before knew. While he has already gotten in to two colleges he likes, he (and I) are anxiously waiting on Skidmore. Any help would be appreciated!

Is the 3.7 weighted or unweighted?

going by statistics alone, if he has a 3.7 unweighted, he stands a good chance
if he has a 3.7 weighted, then he's a bit below average with that ~1900

i dont know about skidmore, but i believe most colleges do it like this: they post your status online on dec. 15. they also mail out your status on dec. 15.
so you can check if you're in online before you get the letter.

Thanks! The 3.7 in unweighted, so if what you say is correct, that is good. I don't see anywhere at the Skidmore website where you can check the status of application. I know many other schools have it, but I can't find it at the Skidmore site. Thanks for answering this question.

did your son get in? Was there today and I would think his chances are 100%?

No - he was deferred. I thought he would get in but we need financial aid, so who knows? We are disappointed.
