Early Decision I

Congratulations Gatsby! I hope everything works out for you with the financial stuff. It’s so expensive, but worth it.

YAY! Congrats Gatsby!!! I really hope the financial aid is enough for you to go to W&L!
You guys are so lucky to know now! I hope I’ll be joining you guys soon…just gotta wait til April 1.

Ahhh Congrats Gatsby!!
I think I ran to mailbox 3 times today =/
where I live is pretty much of a countryside and maybe that is why I am still not getting it … I mean Virginia and pennsylvania is not that terribly far away right?
I hope Id get it by tomorrow night

I got my acceptance letter this evening. Needless to say, I am super excited. See y’all next fall.

Congratulations, Attenborough. See you in September! (Sort of sounds like Harry Potter, really.)
And heeju, do not feel ashamed. I spent all of my day from the moment I woke up watching my mailbox and pacing my house (but in view of a window, of course).

All of you guys who got accepted…did you have good SAT II scores?? Mine are absolutely awful…680 French and 600 literature…I feel like I’m not competitive anymore as an applicant :(.

don’t worry about the SAT IIs like I did. Yours are not horrible. I got a 720 in history, but I got a 660 in Math II, and still got in. Anything in the 600 is not horrible, and won’t be the sole reason that you don’t get in. I know a kid who got low, mid 600s and got in. SAT IIs are really not as big a deal as everyone makes them out to be.

I got in!!!

My financial aid information is yet to come too but I am positive I will be joining you all.

Congratulations to everyone who have already got in.
Best of luck to those who haven’t yet.

thanks MusicFanatic. I’m feeling a little better…
Found this: “The Admissions Office may review applications, and even admit students, without the SAT Subject Tests, but the student will still be required to submit the two test scores as soon as they are available.”
What does that even mean??? Now I really wonder how W&L uses them in the admissions process…hmm. My mom said I can’t retake them…she thinks I’m going crazy under pressure. She’s probably right.
Anyway. This thread is not about me.

CONGRATULATIONS culdesac!!! that is wonderful news. I hope all the financial stuff works out for you!!

My Sat II’s were 670 Lit and 670 Math II. I took them in November and sent them to w&l right after i found out and they only processed them about a week and a half ago. So I’m assuming that they already made their decision or had already gotten a brief idea before receiving those scores. I doubt that the SAT II’s really are that big of a portion of the app.

I am in!!! =)))
I saw the e-mail on financial aid award first, so I kind of knew that I got in even before I got the acceptance letter
I am like sooo excited now I ran around the whole house haha
I really hope to see you all next fall!!

For those of you who applied for ED and still didnt get the letter
call the admission office tomorrow and they will send it thru fax

Congratulations!!! I’m so happy for everyone…I really regret not applying ED now. I think it’s too late now to rush my counselor and parents to sign the ED letter for ED II…oh well.
I sent W&L admissions an email asking them to clarify their SAT II policy…I felt better for awhile and then just cried for a long time when my friend started complaining about her two 750 scores. Luckily W&L is my only school that requires those scores, but I was really hoping to be good enough to be a Johnson finalist.

Do not worry about the SAT II’s. I was accepted with a 670 in History and a 660 in Literature. They won’t make or break your application.

im sorry, if your friend is complaining about 750 thats ridiculous. no offense. lol. anything in the 700s is really good, and 600 is still good. Also, i think the reason they want the SAT IIs even after they make their decisions is because they might use them for placement along with AP exams. Which kind of sucks, because I’m good at math but only got a 660 because I had a horrible test. They’re still not a big deal though. and congratulations to everyone who got in! I don’t think any of us have been denied yet, which is great.

What MusicFanatic said is true
I got 760 in US history but only 610 in chemistry
so don’t worry too much about it=]

Acceptance! Win forever!

CONGRATS!!!
It seems like CC is having great luck with W&L!

Last remark about SAT IIs and then I will shut up. :stuck_out_tongue: The guy emailed me back about how they use the scores and said it’s a factor to balance out my transcript…interesting. And then he told me my application is complete, which is very nice to hear. I’ve gotten to a point where I figure I get in or I don’t, and I will love my school no matter what it is. Yay for SAT IIs!!

So I got:

US History: 720
Math II: 600

and I got in ED I so I don’t think they are a huge deal and as long as they show that in one area you are highly proficient and will do well in that subject in college you are fine. Obviously my math was not very strong but my history was competitive; it just added another dimension to standardized testing beyond critical reading, math, and writing. I think the SAT II are for the critics of the SAT I, because so many people think that the SAT I does not exemplify your knowledge or how hard you have worked/studied in school for 13 years and just how you did on one Saturday Morning (This is what Wake Forest says to their applicants about the SAT I, not SAT II). I think the reason why my History score was better than my math is due the the fact that a) I am more interested in history than math and b) I worked extremely hard in APUSH. I think it is good that W&L does not only rely on SAT I; SAT IIs show more about your understanding of a specific subject of your choice aside from grades with out the subjectivity (in some cases) of grades.

Congrats to everyone who was admitted!! Good luck to those deferred :)

Congrats on getting in georgiagal23!!
Thanks for helping me get over my SAT II anxieties, everybody. Much appreciated!
Now let’s just CELEBRATE the W&L class of 2015! Hopefully I will be joining you on April 1 (or late January if MIRACLES happen  )

Ahhh. I applied EDII and still have just over a month till I find out!

Hopefully I’ll be joining everyone in the fall next year!
