So this is a thread for all of us who applied to Emory Early Decision Round II. It's a chance for us to get to know one another, post up your stats, help each other and countdown to our decisions together!

I'm still here, anxiously/nervously waiting! :)

Hey guys,
yea I have been kinda anxious the last couple of days. But I also have a lot of good school choices if I don't get in; which I think is a necessity.
Good luck to all!

Well guys, just so you all know. A woman from Emory called my counselor on Thursday telling him they had all my stuff except my parent signature and they wanted to go into committee tomorrow (Friday) but they couldn't until they had everything so we just faxed it on over. So with that said, I guess its very likely my decision, and maybe some of yours were made on Friday. Thats a scary thought...

That is kinda scary to think about. But I know that they have to look at some applications a couple times because they aren't for sure accepts or denies at first glance. They have to look at what other talent is in the group in order to make a decision. According to one admissions counselor I talked to, the final acceptance group is determined very close to Feb 1. However, there are definitely people who have already been accepted/denied as of now.

hey guys! so i'm still kind of confused about the whole "significantly less ED II admittances" is it true, or what?

we are ED2.
it's getting tight now, and we feel the pressure.
there's a thread that talks about surprising acceptances and rejections, and some of the people who were rejected at emory were accepted at some pretty impressive places.
that was scary to read.
my S's SATs are not as high as he'd like, but his grades are strong.
where have you guys applied?
has anyone heard from any schools yet?

what are his states shearbear

i've been hearing around 1400 and around 3.8 and good EC's should get you in

is 1380 superscore acceptable?

Here's hoping!

doc, his stats are math:720 cr:630 writing: 750; so 1350/1400
he has around a 3.9.

so he's on the border, basically.
his courseload is a rigorous as is possible; his recs rock.
but that critical reading score's just not where we were hoping it'd be . . .
what do you think?

My son was accepted ED with lower SATs ( in the 1200s) and a 3.65 GPA. He did show his interest by visiting Emory twice and attending 2 presentations in our area. He also took the most challenging curriculum at his school. He showed leadership and had great reccomendations. Don't get hung up on the numbers. Emory is more than a numbers school.

dc mom,
thanks for your words,
is your son at emory now?
if so, where does he live?
when was he accepted?
my son has visited two or three times; we live in atlanta, however.

Hi All... Have any of you checked your OPUS accounts? My D's OPUS account is not up to date at all. It shows Emory still needing many items that we know Emory has already received. Are the rest of you seeing the same delay on your OPUS accounts? Thanks.

HeartlandMom: I didn't apply EDII (EDI instead), but it's normal for Emory to not update OPUS for over 5-6 weeks. As long as you sent it off, I wouldn't worry.

Thanks jmw123!

Yea, my stuff wasn't updated for a while but I called and they told me its all there, just takes a while to update so you're fine. As for the significantly fewer admissions for ED II, Who Cares!? It's too late now guys, we applied ED II already, so even if the acceptance rate is 99% or 9%, theres nothing more we can do now but just hope and pray! In my dream world, every one of us would get in,we'd all dorm together, become best friends, and live happily ever after. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!

Haha I like HotChilly's idea of a dream world.
I think one thing people need to know is that when we look on CC and see all of these ridiculous applications that people are applying with (great SATS, perfect SAT II's, perfect GPA's), it just shows that people who post on CC are truly the elite students in the nation. That 31 on the ACT you may have gotten which seems on the lower end of what is posted here is truly the 98th percentile. Everyone should stop for a second and think about how great that is, and how lucky we are for being a part of that elite group. And trust me, in no way does Emory not want somebody who is (according to the ACT/SAT) smarter than 98% of the class of 2012. And if we all don't get in, then we have a great time somewhere else.
Good luck to all!

haha wise words, jmizz. wise words.

AHH I'm freaking out! this is so bad.

Emory still hasn't received my signature page.. do you think thats normal, or will they not spend enough time on my application if they haven't reviewed it yet??

5 more days...... ekk im so scared! =[

OneANDonly, I read your other thread about this. I also switched from RD to EDII (albeit a lot earlier), so when they originally made the switch they didn't have the signature page for me.
The next morning I faxed it to them and everything worked out fine.

so yeah, if I were you I would just fax them ASAP.
