I know you can be interviewed as early as June 1. Can you schedule an interview even before you’ve sent your application in though?
Yes, you can.
“We conduct interviews for first year applicants June 1 – December 8. Fall interview slots are limited so we strongly encourage you to schedule your interview for the summer months. It is not necessary to have an admissions application on file prior to your interview.”
Thank you WakeDad.
Anyone know the risks/benefits of interviewing without an application yet on file?
Or does the interviewer make a “blind” assessment anyway without looking at the application even if it happens to be on file?
Interviewing in the summer is much easier, especially if you plan on doing it on campus. You can schedule it the same day you tour. We did the info session / tour, interview, one on one session I arranged with B school on the same day. It was a full Wake day which was nice and broke it up with having lunch in downtown WS (very cool bistros all over the place). Ran into others downtown who were doing the same. Whole day was quite positive and made a huge impression on S (now a Freshmen at Wake).
Thank you. Based on your son’s experience: any interview advice or advice for essays?
Just be yourself. The interview was his first, so he was a little nervous. But he said it was actually fun. The admissions person was very nice and it was really more of a conversation than an interview.
Advice for essays: Give yourself plenty of time to work on them. They are short responses which I think are actually more challenging than 400+ word essays. Limited space so every word counts. Be a very critical editor. FIgure out the best way to say what you want to say with an active voice.
Good luck!
Super advice, thank you!
