Early Decision Notification

Does anyone know how American University notifies the Early Decision applicants? With e-mail, mail or both?
And do they all come on the 31st of December, or before?

It all depends. Occasionally (I’d venture to say more often than not) – you get notified before December 31st – even before the offices close for the holidays. I’ve mentioned elsewhere on this forum that it’s a fantastic present that they like to give before the holidays.

You hear by e-mail initially (usually) as soon as the office makes a decision – but phonecalls aren’t unheard of either. During regular decision, you receive the welcome packet a few days later, however during ED I imagine that all of official packets are sent out on the 31st.

It was said in the AU chat on Dec. 2 that depending on mail you’ll have a decision as early as Dec. 14th. It’s a range of Dec. 14th - Dec 31st.

you get a phonecall — at least that was the case for fall 2009.

You get a phone call for early occasionally. I’m from CA and I just got mine today actually for early! It’s a great school I can’t wait.

Best of luck!

Did they call your cell phone or home phone #?
I’m still waiting…

Tannyloo: Don’t worry about it too much yet. Their official notification date is 12/31. Would it be a nice Christmas present to hear before then? You bet. But take a deep breath, I know that waiting eats away at you.

I’m from CA also, and I definitely don’t have a letter. I’m pretty sure this means I didn’t get in.

I’m from CA too. eek.
