Does anyone know when the admissions decisions for early decision usually arrive in mail? Also, for those who got accepted last year, what kind of envelope do the acceptance letters come in (the traditional fat ones)? What else was included in the acceptance package?

I got mine by e-mail on the 13th and then i think the packet came the 15th. It came in a big priority mail envelope. Inside was a pretty folder with a cover letter, a certificate, info on your fin aid award, info about owl weekend, a rice/baylor app (if you requested one), info about housing, and info on where to send your deposit.

thanks for the info!

what did the subject line on the email say?

I think it said "admission status change" but i also got a few with the same subject line before that, letting me know that that website had been updated. That was not so good.

The final "admission status updated" or "admission status change" came just after close of business Houston time the last business day before the Dec. 15 notification date. As Dec. 15 was a Monday last year, the email came at 6 pm EST on Fri evening. I had heard (though not validated) that the emails did not all go out at once, but did go out that evening. As this year, with the leap year, Dec. 15 is a Weds, I'd imagine you should be glued to your email Tues evening. Time depends on your location. Good luck!!!

So are there many "Admission Status Update" emails before the final decision email? And also, is the decision in the form of a letter in the email? or do you have to click on a link that brings you to Rice's decision?

There were a few e-mails, as I remember. And yes, you have to click a link to get to the decision.

The link is password protected. I believe they send you a password which you can then change.

Are the ED decisions usually emailed out the Friday before December 15th? So does that mean we should expect an email on the 10th this year?

anyone know? bump...

I got mine on the 13th last year, if that helps.
