Early Decision - October SAT Procedures...

As we know, the ED deadline is Nov. 1.
I have all my scores (SAT I, Subject Tests, ACT) ready but NOT sent yet.
I do want to take the SAT one more time to raise the superscore... I'm registered for October 1 SAT.

What is the common procedure (be specific) for sending scores for an ED applicant that takes the SAT in October? Please factor in the free score reports(?) Again, I have yet to send ANY scores to ANY colleges due to personal reasons.

Please let me know :)

For ED schools with Nov 1 app deadline:

All accept Oct SAT test scores regular delivery. They can arrive after the app deadline. Some recommend designating school as free send in test application but for most you can actually just send immediately after scores are released (but that requires paying a fee for sending). Thus for SATs you can can just wait to send all when you send the Oct scores or, if you want, you can send pre-Oct scores earlier.

Many of those ED schools also accept Nov test scores for ED but for those the schools almost universally want you to use your free send to send the score. One, UPenn, wants Nov (not Oct) scores rush dleivery. That makes little sense if it means you cannot use your free send, since the free send option actually gets the score to the college faster than a rush delivery. Thus, Penn possibly means to send rush if you wait to order until after the score comes out.

You must send your ACT separately if you intend to send it in additon to SAT (or in lieu of it) and probably should order it sent by mid-October. Note, that colleges which require “all scores” usually don’t require you to send the ACT score if you intend to rely on the SAT and send all SAT scores.

The above also applies to almost all Early Action schools with a Nov. 1 deadline but you should check those because some, Mich, UIUC, and Gtech are three, state that you need to desigate the school as a free send on the Oct test to assure it arrives on time.
