Will it say on the OPUS system that we have been admitted/etc, or is that only email, mail, and other contacts? Also, Do we get our decisions ON December 15th, or sometime before December 15th?

I think there is a link somewhere in OPUS that is "View Decision". Not sure where at though.

I was told by an admission counselor that all of the decisions are released the same day which is Dec.15 th. I asked if there is a chance we might get them before that that date and she said no.

does anyone know what time on the 15th?

Alright, I just called the admission office to ask that question. They said they havent released the time yet, but most likely it would be in the evening on the 15th. They said we should be getting an e-mail stating the exact time and where to go on OPUS to view our decision. She also said that there wont be ANY waitlist or Deffered, which is news to me. Oh and one more thing she said the decisions wont just state accepted or denied, it will be the actual letter you will get in the mail later......ahhh 4 more weeks and two days....Good luck everyone!

so youre either accepted or denied? that sucks

Wonder whether the number of ED I applications were higher than last year ?

Either way, I'm getting nervous lol. I wish the 15th would hurry up.

Is this the first year Emory has made ED decisions without the option of defferal or wait list? If so, I wonder why the change.

I don't think there was a change....At the regional info session, admissions rep stated that it has been this way for the past few years....Their view is that if you have what they are looking for, you are admitted...if you don't have it, you won't have it two months later either, regardless of what the RD pool looks like....That is why there really is no bump to ED other than based on the numbers applying.....You get the advantage purely because there are less people for them to review at that time.....(and because the yield from ED is an automatic 100%...if they say "yes", you've gotta go.....obviously)...

Last year I got mine at 12:01 am, meaning the moment when it turns to "the expected date"

On their site, it says ed applicants can be deferred to regular admission Early Decision

I dont know if or why they changed it for this year, but the counselor told me that "there will be no waitlist or deferred this round". I am curious as to why the change myself but that is EXACTLY what they told me. I guess we will see.... Good luck every one

I just realized that I had asked another admission counselor the same question. Here are the exerts from my e-mail to Simona Perales

Question "...However, I do have another question; If someone is not accepted ED1 could they be deferred to RD, or is it strictly accepted or rejected?.."

Answer "Thank you for your email. I’m glad to hear that you’re applying ED. However, we actually do not defer students to RD if they are not accepted ED..."

eh..one tip, do NOT ask if u can see your decisions earlier than the date posted because that REALLY annoys them..trust me, I know people who work in the admissions department and they have other crap to go through, like your apps, so just WAIT....another thing, they keep track of calls and contact made to the admissions office and so if you make petty/pointless calls just remember that they have your phone number on your application and can make note of whatever they want

Has anyone heard whether there has been a significant increase in the number of ed1 apps. to Emory this year?

On December 15th, you guys will get "View Decision" icon on OPUS. If you click this icon, someone will see:

Thanks mashimlro! You have any idea what an Emory rejection letter looks like?

i know decisions will be online on the 15th but theyre mailing them on the 15th too, right? so we wont get letters until like the 18thish?

Yes they are mailing the decisions the same day, and the letter we get in the mail is going to be the same as the one we see online. Did you apply ED1, and if you did are you going to wait until the letter comes through postal?
