early decision or regular admission?

SAT 2180

SATII
Math IIC 740
Lit 730
Physics 630

I hear Cornell's ED deadline is november.
should I send in for early decision anyways or retake physics/SAT I then do regular?

I've heard that even if you get refused by ED, you can still reapply to the same college for regular admission. So I'm thinking I should do ED just in case.

Please give me some advice. T.T

PS
I heard that in your application, if you register for a not-so-popular department of the college, then you have a higher acceptance rate. Is that rumor worth considering?

Depends on what happens ED, if you get denied, then nope you won't be considered regular decision. If deferred, you're automatically put into regular decision pool. Ah, that rumor is worth considering because in a few cases, it actually applies. =)

You didn't ask for chances so I won't give you yours, but... I'd say bite the bullet and go ED.

Is money going to be an issue?

You can take the October test and have Collegeboard send the score to Cornell. That way, the scores will reach Cornell only a little bit after the application deadline. I think they'll look at it.

thanks a lot, everyone
money is slightly an issue. but can't I just take care of everything with loan?

No,you "just can't take care of evrything with a loan" as an undergrad student you will only be able to borrow $3500 through the stafford loan program which will probably already be accounted for in your financial aid package. any additional monies you would want to borrow, you would most likely need a co-signer.

Do you plan on going to professional (law/med) school? Your credit worthiness will be very important as a large part of your FA will be in the form of loans.

I would recommend running your numbers through a couple of FA calculators (college board- use both the federal and the institutional methodologies. You will get different # from each). Cornell uses the federal methodology to determine financial need.

Have you spoken with your parents regarding how much they are willing to pay/borrow for your education? What kind of position would you be in if you found that your parents either could not afford to pay or did not want to pay the EFC? How would you come up with the money?

When you apply ED you are basically saying if admitted you will attend regardless of the FA package (remember you do not get to compare offers).
