Early Decision Policy

I am going to apply early decision to Syracuse this fall, but with their early decision policy if you are not admitted into your first choice of college you are no longer binded and can decide by the normal deadline of may 1st. My question is, will i still be able to apply to University of Maryland College Park early action? With UMDCP you have to apply early action in order to be considered for merit and financial aid. Please help!!!

yes you can

Not according to their web site:

[Applying for Admission](http://syr.edu/admissions/undergraduate/applytosu/applying_for_admission/enrollment_options.html)

The best way to verify this is to call them.

Why apply early decision to Syracuse ?

You should apply EA to College Park and if you get accepted, go there. Its the better college anyway(overall).

The University of Maryland is very clear that their Priority Application program, with a Nov. 1 deadline, is not an Early Action program. Students who apply by Nov. 1 will be notified of their decision by the end of January, but will have until May 1 to accept or decline any offer of admission. And, as you’ve noted, Bre, you must apply to College Park by Nov. 1 if you want to be considered for merit scholarships, or for the honors program or College Park Scholars.

You may apply ED to Syracuse and Priority to College Park.

If you apply ED to Syracuse and you are admitted to the program of your choice, however, you’ll be obliged to go to Syracuse even if you’re chosen for a Banneker/Key at College Park. If that’s OK with you, it’s your business. But merit aid seems to be a consideration for you. If that’s so, then maybe you want to be able to compare scholarship offers from Syracuse, Maryland and perhaps some other universities, too. ED wouldn’t let you do that.
