If I apply early decision (to Columbia College), and submit in all my forms by the deadline (tonight at midnight), do my teacher recommendations need to be postmarked by that time as well? What if they are, lets say, a week late? I need to make a decision whether to apply early decision, but I know that my recommendations will take a little longer to be sent.

yeah i have the same question. but so far everyone's saying they will be lenient. after all, theyre not going to cut you for someone else's laziness.

The general consensus seems to be that they're pretty nice about recs, etc. arriving late since you have no control over them.

Well its not actually anyone else's laziness. Rather, I wasn't originally planning to apply early decision anywhere so I didn't ask my teachers early enough.

Wow, I pray that they are lenient because I've been emailing my teacher like crazy to send it in but so far no word at all.

That's fine, but you should consider the fact that your teacher may write that you aren't very responsible in the letter. After all, you waited until now to ask him/her to write the letter for you.

Thanks, I doubt my teachers would write that. I actually asked them quite a while ago but had told them they had plenty of time to take care of them. And hopefully the teachers I asked like me enough not to write that just because of this.

The teacher recommendations do not have to be sent by today... your application has to be in by today. The transcript and other materials have to be sent by probably 2 weeks after the admission deadline.. at least for Yale that's what they said on the online ELI account
