Hi, My sister is applying to undergrad schools in the US for architecture. And she wants to apply to Tulane ED. She is worried that if she gets into Tulane, she will be forced to attend it whether she gets financial aid or not. Is that the case ? I mean do you have to reject other universities if you get into some university through early decision ?
Thanks in advance for help.

If she accepts any school under binding early decision, she will have complications if she backs out for any reason. Most schools do allow an out if financial aid is inadequate but it can be a real pain in the neck to exercise that option. Under ED, yes, you are supposed to reject other universities when accepted. You generally withdraw your application if no decision is yet made. Most of the time, ED is not a good bet for those who need financial aid because of the complications and uncertainties. You just don't have other offers to compare if you apply ED, and get a package you think is inadequate and the school won't up it.

I believe Tulane is EA, however, which does not involve binding contracts.
