Early Decision question

I have a question about Early Decision admittance...
I'm thinking about applying ED to Cornell's AEM program in the Ag school.
On my common app i put Econ as a second choice major, if I am admitted to my second choice major am I still binded to attend?

Excellent question – couldn’t find an quick answer for you. You should probably call Cornell and ask.

Yes, you would be obligated to go even if you were admitted to your second choice. If you were deferred, then you would be released from the ED agreement.

Definitely contact the school. Since you are applying ED to the Ag school specifically, I don’t see why you would be bound to a major not in that specific school.

OP would be applying to both schools, not just to CAL. If he is admitted to one, doesn’t matter which one, he is committed to attend. If he is not sure if he would attend CAS, then he shouldn’t put it down as his second choice.

If you’re apply ED, can you list just 1 area of study then?

Yes, you can just list one school. In OP’s case, it makes sense he is interested in both AEM and econ in CAS, they are related. Be careful not to apply to 2 unrelated schools/majors.
