There ARE some ED decisions that DO come with merit awards. I dont know why some do and some dont, but since Admissions (not FA) is the one that typically awards merit. If merit IS going to be awarded to an ED student, it ONLY makes sense to award it at acceptance so it will hopefully cause the student to deposit/enroll.
@mom2collegekids That is what I was hoping. That I would know about my merit award with my admit decision. Unfortunately I don’t think that is the case, at least for this school. So I will apply RD
Why don’t you pick up the phone and ask them. This a pretty important question which you really want to know the answer to in order to formulate your strategy. I can’t imagine any college admissions person not wanting to talk to a potential ED candidate and providing an honest answer since if you apply ED and don’t get your award, it is clear you are not going.
