I know this is probably a stupid question, but if you apply early decision to one school are you allowed to also apply early action to another if it's not single choice?

No. Early Decision is, by definition, binding and single-choice.

Thanks, just wanted to make sure

OP- Your question is not stupid and there is a cloud of confusion around the rules. ED is binding:if you are accepted you are expected to attend. ED does not prevent you from submitting rolling or regular EA apps to other schools. You are expected to withdraw all apps in process when you have an ED acceptance in hand. The catch is EA Single Choice which rules out any other early apps as I understand it.
Our high school guidance office gave my s conflicting advice about this in 2003 so he called the admit office of his ED school and got clearance to apply EA or RD elsewhere simutaneously. Please check with the schools in question--they will help you.

Yeah for examples at Princeton you cant, but a UPenn you can.
