What happens if you are accepted to a school early decision (binding) and then get accepted into an international school (say Oxford or Cambridge)? Can't you opt out of the early decision school? Even if it's morally wrong, who can stop you from going to the overseas school?

If I'm not mistaken, I think Early Decision is legally binding. Therefore, you wouldn't have a choice. Some of the more experienced members can clear this up if I'm wrong.

Not legally binding... that would amount to involuntary servitude or something. ;)

However, if the international school communicates with the US college, and they respect the ED agreements of that US college, you could be in for an unpleasant surprise and be rescinded at both.

What is the likelihood of that? I don't know. I don't think anyone here will know for certain. It definitely could happen. Maybe you should just be upfront about it and ask the international college how they would view such a thing.

I think breaking binding rule only matters to U.S. schools. Why would
British school care ? (well maybe they do since it's breaking a law)
