Yimei: I believe that financial aid offers are usually part of the acceptance package. However, it is probably difficult to include in an e-mail notification. You will probably get your financial aid offer in the mail.

They have your financial forms. I don't believe that they would have accepted you if they weren't prepared to include you in the 55% of internationals who receive finanicial aid assistance and offer a package that is at least reasonable, if not everything you hope for.

Hey everyone. My Mom came on earlier, I know, but I'm finally back and thought that I'd give my stats etc.. I'm so thrilled, everything felt surreal all day. It's such an amaising feeling.

[] Teacher Recs: Excellent (or so said all of my teachers)
[] Counselor Rec: No idea, I assume it was pretty good as she said to me that I would be perfect for Swarthmore.

Thanks to everyone for their congratulations. Congratulations to yimei and lalo (seems my mom forgot you yimei :(). It'll be awsome seeing everyone next fall! It makes it so much more real knowing where i'll be a year from now.

To everyone:
Well, a CC acceptance rate of 100% isn't bad for starters ehhh! I wish the best of luck to everyone else applying. I hope all of us get in and are able to meet come September.

accepted!!!!!!!!! There's no "This is the fat one" on the envolope, but it's about the size of a sheet of computer paper folded in half. My letter contained 3 sheets of paper, 2 were about financial aid.

My stats aren't the greatest, so I'm a little intimidated by everyone else's, but I was recruited for basketball and also my URM status gave me a little boost.

If you want my stats I would be happy to send them to you in a PM.

I can't stop smiling even though we just lost our game to a really bad team. Well I guess I'll be in ecstasy until practice tomorrow.

Congratulations YoungCub. It's such a great feeling, a little 'out of body' no? I like your three posts in a row :P.. I probably would have done similarly but I was partaking in the model UN our school offers. (at the UN building in Geneva.) I promise that I'll go to at least one of your games next year, as long as I don't have to play. My basketball skills are abhorrent.

Don't you dare feel intimidated. With steadily increasing grades over four years at Germantown Academy, you'll do fine at Swarthmore. Kids from run-of-the-mill public high schools probably have more of a challenge in stepping up their games, academically, because they just don't get the writing training that you get at a high school like yours.

Pick courses sensibly, take advantage of the mentoring opportunities (the Writing Associates program, etc.), and by the end of the pass/fail first semester, you'll be in the groove.

Swarthmore knows that you can do well academically or they wouldn't have accepted you. It's not like they don't know your high school.

YoungCub,
Congrats! Hope you find Swarthmore to be everything you are hoping it to be!
And, as IDad said, no need to feel intimidated. They ease you in with a full semester of pass/fail. And thanks for letting everyone know that they're back to those 6 x 9 envelopes with no outside writing. Those tricky little devils!

Congrats to YoungCub, schoenHS, Yimei, and everyone else who had heard! Thank YoungCub, for the envelope tip... I might have been unduly heartbroken if I got an unmarked envelope without it.

Best of luck to your daughter. My mom was under similar threat. At one point we thought it might come by DHL because we live in Switzerland. A lot of bargaining insued as to whether she could open the DHL part to see if it had a "the fat envelope" on it. The answer was no, obviously. So, I'm sure she can only imagine your pain :P. Again, goodluck.
