fyi: 6 by 9 inch envelope

hey everyone

i'm officially a swattie!

YES!!!!!

stats etc. later...need to notify everyone first

Hey... I, like lalol, have been coming to collegeconfidential almost religiously for the past few weeks in anticipation of my Swat Early Decision results but haven't posted anything. I think I've been kind of superstitious about posting stats and whatnot before the decision letter came today.

*Decision: Accepted :) *

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT: CR 760/Math 750/ Writing 770
[] SAT IIs: Math 2C 760/Chemistry 760
[] GPA: 3.99
[] Rank: my school doesn'trank.. but probably 1 or 2 out of 80ish

[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: pretty good I suppose.. but i never know what to think of my own essays. I was really happy with the "Why Swat?" essay.
[] Teacher Recs: Very good. My AP Chem teacher loves me and told me, "you'll definitely get in. i'd say there's a 90% chance of you getting accepted."
[] Counselor Rec: Good. My counselor and I are really friendly.. I like to go in and talk to her about my weekend, etc. whenever I get the chance.
[] Hook (if any): umm, I went to Discovery Weekend. Does that count as a hook?
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: New Jersey, Bergen County
[] School Type: Public Magnet High School with a tough courseload
[] Ethnicity: Puerto Rican
[] Gender: Female
[/ul]Other Factors: shrugs
General Comments: I'm so happy! I'm going to spend the next four years on the beautiful Swarthmore campus with some truly amazing people. Yay :)

cjsb0160 and LuminousStar28,
Excellent news and welcome to the class of 2010 and out little CC group of Swat families!

Hey I was accepted into Swarthmore and want to list stats, but I can't figure out how to use HTML formatting to achieve the desired effect. I'm new to CC forums by the way. Could anyone help??

Hey, FlySwattie, on the first page of this thread there are all of the codes you need. Just delete the spaces that are in the brackets... Good luck.

Thanks star!!

My D was accepted recruited lax player. Swat was her top choice from the moment she walked on the campus! Good Luck to everyone,a new journey begins for the class of '10.

Accepted

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT: 740v / 700m / 730w
[] SAT IIs: 740 Lit. / 650 IC
[] GPA: 3.8/4.0 unw
[] Rank: 20/367
[] Other stats:
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: Mediocre. I think that my main "topic of choice: identity" was pretty good, but my "Why Swat" wasn't that great (I trusted my interview to make up for it)
[] Teacher Recs:AMAZING.
[] Counselor Rec:Good.
[] Hook (if any):
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country:PA
[] School Type: Public in suburb. My school is ranked 43/50 in the Philadelphia area (give or take a few points).
[] Ethnicity:Korean
[] Gender:Male
[/ul]Other Factors: Who says that the interview doesn't matter? With weaker essays, I am willing to venture that my interview made up for my "Why Swarthmore." I felt as if I were squeezing a dry sponge. What else was there to say about Swarthmore in a cold, cold essay? The warm interaction that occurred between me and my interviewer was the true representation of who I am. I thrive in social environments, and I think that Swarthmore liked that.
[]General Comments: I've been in Amnesty Int'l, my school's community service organization, orchestra/choir and all that other good stuff for most of my high school career. In addition, I wrote my EC mini-essay on my workplace, somewhere that emphasizes recycling, equality (or opportunity), and strong productivity.

LOVE how the campus is a registered arboreatum!

congratulations!
you can ask me questions, i'm a sophomore.

Congrats to everyone who has been accepted so far! Sigh...I love the Bluegrass, but today I wish I lived in the Northeast.

Hell, I live in NJ and mine didn't get here today. I'm really...dying here.

Wow, I'm really ****ed...I was so ready to get it today, and now I have nothing. Honestly, this is crap, I keep hoping my mailman made a mistake and delivered it to the wrong house, so theyll drop it off later or something, but I doubt it. How on earth did it reach the far corners of LI and not NJ...unless they mailed acceptances priority :-/

Hang in there, NJPitcher - I'm rooting for you. We're waiting in Texas for my d's letter, and it is agonizing. We are happy for the Accepted - but there is still that little twinge that you get when you hear someone say "Bingo!"

Accepted!

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT: 800CR, 790M, 780W
[] SAT IIs: 750 bio, 780 lit
[] GPA: 4.0
[] Rank: 28/208, but I didn't send it
[] Other stats:
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: Who can tell? I liked my Why Swat.
[] Teacher Recs: Didn't read them. Would it be inappropriate to ask the teachers if I can see them? Maybe at the end of the year?
[] Counselor Rec: Didn't read it.
[] Hook (if any):
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: currently NJ, originally Israel
[] School Type: public
[] Ethnicity: white
[li] Gender: female[/li][/ul]
Other factors: Who knows? Some writing awards, eclectic (almost schizophrenic) ECs/interests, what I think was a good interview.
General Comments: LuminousStar, I'm in Bergen County too, as is ladylazarus! Is your magnet school BA by any chance?

Guys, I'm so excited!

***...bergen county, but not essex county. I guess they mailed the acceptance letters priority. I think I'm as annoyed right now as I would've been had I been rejected.
