Hey! Anyone applying ED II to Midd?

No, you’ll be the only one this year.

OBD, I believe the question aspect of that post was rhetorical ;)

Yes I am! I am really nervous to find out whether I get in or not… I havent been contacted for an interview yet either.

I really wish I would have… I have to wait now until March 31. I had an interview though.

Ohh, I see well I just got an email for my interview and we scheduled it for Tuesay. Im going to have to make it a good one because my grades are well below Midd’s averages.

I wish I could tell you whether or not the interview really makes a difference. The person who interviewed me was fantastic and it went really well, which was great because I am sort of in your boat but it’s more along the lines of my SAT scores being below Midd’s averages. My interviewer did mention though that doing the interview CAN substantially help your chances of getting in. I think it depends on the candidate everyone has a different and unique story.

Hey! I was wondering- did you guys send in your midyear grades? My school doesn’t release those grades until February. If so, are first quarter grades alright?

Hey yeah I was wondering the same thing, my mid-years arent out until like beginning of Feb too and i dont think i can even send my quarter grades alone. Should I just send them when they come out?? Idk

Send them an email and call them to let them know. Also write down the name of the person and the date and time you call their admissions department.
I am sure you aren’t the only one who won’t have their grades until then.

Most schools don’t have mid-year reports until February. It’s just the way the school year breaks down for most American schools. Plus, grades (and all reports) should be sent via your college counseling office; self-reporting your own grades won’t mean butcuss.

You could call or send an email, but it would be my impression that admissions are not expecting EDII candidates’ mid-year reports when making the majority of decisions for early February notification. And honestly? If you are on the cusp to the extent that they’d want mid-year grades to make a decision, you’re either going to be deferred to regular decision or rejected outright.

I can’t recall if Midd has a portal that shows if any of your application remains outstanding, but if it does and mid-year report is marked as missing, I would first ask my college counselor since typically a lot of them have relationships with area admission reps.

Interviews… remember to ask for a business card or something so you can write a thank you note. Write it right away…

I applied ED 2, too. I wish I will get in.

Same here man im nervous 24/7. By the way, just a random question, how much of a factor does legacy play at Middlebury? I am very curious because my older bro graduated from Midd back in 2002.

Sibling legacy-1 point. Every little bit helps.

Yeah that is what I was thinking, especially at a small liberal arts school that likes to hold on to families that may donate to the school, create a longer legacy etc. I thought that it could play an important role in my app. It really just is another piece of the puzzle though.

6days…Super nervous.

I’m wishing for the best. But it’s not meant to be, it’s not meant to be. I’ll be ecstatic if I get in, but if I don’t, I know I’ll be fine at my other schools. Essentially, it’s not where you go for four years, but rather what you do within those four years. =)

What are some of the other schools you guys are interested in? I did ED1 to Dartmouth and got rejected. I always loved Middlebury so I did ED2 and am anxiously waiting to hear back. I literally have a countdown. I also applied to Notre Dame, Boston College (legacy), Holy Cross, Georgetown, Johns Hopkins, and Bucknell.

As much as I want to know…part of me doesn’t haha… Good luck to you guys!

Middlebury is my first choice. I should have done early decision I, but I wanted to take the SATs again to boost my score. Thankfully it did, but then again, the acceptance rate for ED 2 is lower than ED 1. I didn’t like Dartmouth; I also applied to Notre Dame. May I ask what your stats are?
