Early Decision SAT & ACT Deadlines ?

According to the website ( http://www.admissions.upenn.edu/apply/freshman-admission/application-deadlines-and-fee ), the application Deadline is November 1, the last SAT/SAT Subject test date is November 2014, and the last ACT plus writing test date is October 2014.

*It is possible to take the October ACT and the November SAT for Early Decision and the December ACT and January SAT for Regular Decision, but when you register, please make sure you have the scores sent directly to the University of Pennsylvania. Do not wait until after you receive your scores to send us the results.

The Penn website also notes that "All deadlines are 11:59 p.m. eastern time on the listed date."

Therefore, if I am taking an SAT II in October (and according to Collegeboard, I can "send to colleges beginning October 30), does that mean that I need to register to have the score directly sent?

Penn’s application for ED needs to be provided by Nov 1 not the test scores. The test scores can be sent and arrive later. It takes the Oct ACT for which scorres won’t even be released until second week in Nov; similarly it takes the Nov SAT for ED for which scoress won’t be released until third week of Nov. If you send Oct SAT scores by early Nov regular delivery, you will be fine. The statement you mention above is intended for those submitting the Oct ACT or Nov SAT tests for ED, the results for which are not even released until Nov, for which you should designate Penn as a college to automatically receive scores upon release in your test applicaiton to assure those tests arrive in time to be considered.
