Early Decision Statement help

This question may seem a bit obvious, but hopefully those who use this forum subscribe to the "there are no stupid questions" philosophy.

I'm sending my common app online. There is one school I'm applying to ED, so, naturally, I signed the online ED agreement. When my mom and I were looking my app over, however, she pointed out that it said she and my guidance counselor were also supposed to sign it. At school, I asked the secretary in the guidance office (when I was handing in my other forms) whether there was a written agreement that also needs to be signed. She said no, as the ED agreement is between me and the school. I later told my mom this, but she wasn't convinced, claiming that because colleges usually figure the parents are paying, they need to have looked over the ED statement and signed it, as well. Still, my guidance counselor knows I'm applying ED and hasn't given me anything for my mom to sign. I know he would find me if I was missing something, because he did so the other day before I passed in my request for the midyear and final reports.

So, at this point I'm confused and the ED deadline is rapidly approaching. Can anyone tell me what is definitely supposed to be signed here? I'd appreciate it a lot!

My guess is that each school has its own ED form. At any rate, you should be able to go to the school’s page at common app and download the ED form. Then you can take it to your gc, parents, teachers, whomever for signing…

I thought those signatures are on-line. I’m not knowledgeable, but because it is a contract I think they want parents to sign as applicants under 18, their signatures are not valid on a contract in some states. I could be wrong on this.

You can call the Admissions Office in question to confirm, but I believe that you need to print out a hard copy of the ED form, either from the Common App site (it’s in the School Forms section) or from the school’s own website, sign it, have a parent and a GC sign it, and send it in snail mail.

Uh…I don’t know what everyone ELSE is talking about, but I had to ‘add’ a parent email once I signed my ED agreement. She was then emailed, and has signed my agreement. My counselor has probably ALSO been emailed. :)
