Early decision: T-10 days

tomorrow begins the countdown of 10 days till ED notification. >_<

its 11!!!! :(
Lets hope we all get accepted. But looking at most CC profiles, we all have great chances. Your Stats ruo?

omg i applied Early Decision as well but i am sooo scared

Do you think i could get in wtih my stats

GPA: 4.4 W
UW. 3. 1
sat : 1010
Act 22/23
Sat II 530 AMERHIST

Good rec
good essay
minority asian-persian female
Fl resident

lost of EC's
and lost of community service
take 8 aps
im ranked 270/649 but i go to an IB school and im not in IB

ahh 10 days
let me know what you think

Your rank is hurting you. But hopefully recalculated your GPA is still above 4.0. Id say 50/50 because of your rigorous courseload. Your SAT and ACTs are also very low. you need to bring those up.

k but uf knows my school
its really hard to be top 100-150 in my school
and they take that into account
however im like number 19 in my academy out of like 120 ish or less? idk....50/50 is what i think as well...thanks

but i want my chances to go higher i will seriously be crushed.....;(

as for my scores i retested....so hopefully

Here is UF's 2006 FTIC profile:

Middle 50% of the Class

High School GPA of 3.9 - 4.4
SAT of 1220 - 1390
ACT of 26 - 31

http://www.admissions.ufl.edu/ugrad/frprofile.html

If your not within at least the 25% in each of these factors then your chances will not be very good.

When it is said "middle 50%" what does that mean?

ive always wodnered as well but basically.
25 % have lower than that
and 25 % higher ? idk if im much of a help

My stats:
Private school (not ranked)
3.7gpa weighed (odd system, valedictorian has a 4.1)
1400 sat
5 AP's (4's in all of them non-senior year)
erm extra stuff...
speak 5 languages, summer study in China
Owner/president of Non-profit organization
other bits and ends of extra curricular (honor societies)
Lacrosse

also i think you're good coffee, your stats with the exception of SAT fit. I think when they look at your app they'll realize you may have had a bad day taking the SAT or something. Plus, most examinations in college are papers not multi-choice tests

Also I'll clarify the middle 50% thing.

It's a statistical box plot. How it works is this. Take all of the school's applicants, say.....100 (of course not, but hear me out) ordered lowest to highest in SAT scores. The people #26 to #75 are the middle 50% range. In other words, 25% of the app's have higher sat's, 25% have lower.

For UF's 2006 FTIC stats it is broken down like this:

GPA:

25% - 3.9 (weighted)
75% - 4.4 (weighted)

SAT:

25% - 1220
75% - 1390

ACT:

25% - 26
75% - 31

[-Keep in mind that your application will be judged depending on your SAT or ACT, and the admissions officer will always pick the higher of the two scores. For example if you get a 1100 SAT, but have a 30 on your ACT you will be judged solely on your ACT score.]

To all potential applicants: If any of your stats fall below the 25%, then it will make your chances of admittance significantly less probable. The only exception is for Under Represented Minorities (URM).

*Asians are not considered a URM, thus they have to meet the regular criteria.

(Also keep in mind that I am not taking a position about URM status, just stating how higher education classifies URM).

Ruo,

I don't know why you are stressing. You should definetly get in.

Do hispanics classify as an URM? I mean it is Florida we're talking about

Absolutely

hispanics = miami

gainesville = not hispanics

therefore = URM :D

Def. not in gainsville lol

ok.. but i am a minority. im persian-indian ( complicated to explain)....essay explains it...however, i always thought i was hmm...

can anyone confirm?

also, with a 1400no worries but uf can be a little unpredictable!

Asians not considered URM? Oh this whole minority crap is bogus, as 'Asian' is so broad, from middle-eastern to the far east to south asia. I read that 7% of UF students are asian and somewhere that 72% are white?? Ah man, I just hope the fact I'm an outstanding art student gives me a chance.

8 days at midnight.

7 percent Asian to 72 percent white. If you look at this according to population statstics relative to the country as a whole, whites would be quite underrepresented and Asians quite overrepresented. If everything was split "equally" as in 25 percent to each race, whites would be **extremely **disadvantaged.
