hi i just read about this feature and i think this might be the only way i can get to mit. I was wondering my freshman and sophmore years are not the greatest things in the worlds since i just recently learned how the whole college process works because i am the first in my family. So i was wondering can you apply to early decision and if you fail and apply again in senior year?

also i was wondering i read about these things called hooks to make you more attractable so i was wondering what can i do in the engineering field to impress them

MIT doesn't have early decision, so I assume you're talking about their Early Admission (EA) program, which is similar to ED, except it's non-binding. If you apply EA and are rejected, then no you cannot apply again that year. If you are waitlisted however, that means your application will be reviewed again during the Regular Decision (RD) pool, and you will receive a decision in March/April.

Or rather, you get deferred*

I think the OP is referring to the fact that you can apply to MIT in your junior year. MIT only accepts people in rare cases after the junior year if they are exceptional, obviously emotionally mature, and have exhausted all their local academic resources. I don't recommend applying during junior year to the OP, who seems to say that his/her freshman and sophomore year didn't go well. I'm not sure why the OP thinks applying during junior year would be advantageous--just apply senior year like everyone else.
