Early Decision vs Regular Decision

I know that early decision is a good thing to do if you have a number one college, which I do. The thing is my grades weren't so strong freshman year and I am counting on my first semester senior year grades to really bring my GPA up. Currently I have a 3.75 weighted and believe I can get all A's this year with 4 AP classes. Should I go ahead and apply early decision or wait for regular decision?

Go ahead and wait–a strong first semester senior year will absolutely help your app!

While you’re at it, turn left right here, and then hurry up and come down. ;)

I’m pretty sure Jazzed didn’t mean to advise you in doublethink. I’m pretty sure Jazzed is suggesting that if you think your grades from senior fall will strengthen your application overall, you should wait. It’s the advice I would give. I believe that the certain benefit of good grades in demanding courses is better than the supposed “boost” from applying early decision that nobody can really quantify.

Early decision is a good thing to do if you have a number one college AND you can write the check for all costs. Every year kids are heartbroken when the FA packages come in and they cannot afford school number one.
