How much easier is it to get into CMU ED rather than RD

64.667% easier.

Its hard to know without knowing average stats of each group, which I don't have. Could be that its not easier at all. Could be that you get in one way and don't the other.

If you're set on CMU, go ED

is there such a thing as ED for transfer student?

I'd suggest ED as long as $$ isn't a huge issue for you. I know CMU isn't very generous with the money (at least compared to some of the other schools I applied to), so if you are going to rely on aid (like me), ED might not be the best choice.

I disagree, at least in my case. CMU guarantees to meet all financial need if you are accepted ED. I did, and got a pretty good package: 30k grants, 10-11k loans, 2.5k work study. My efc was only 3.5k tho, cuz i have a brother going to college to.

CMU is quite generous with ED aid (in the experience of my floormates) and is also generous with regular kids who they want.
