My first choice school is William and Mary, and I’m going to apply early. Please tell me what you think my odds of getting in are.

Eight Grade: Algebra I, Spanish I

Freshmen Year: Adv Spanish 2, Pre AP Geometry, Pre AP World History, Pre AP English 9, Advance Computer Math, Health and PE, Pre AP Biology

Sophomore Year: AP World History, AP Comp Sci, Pre AP Spanish 3, Pre Ap English 10, Pre AP Alg II, HPE II, Chemistry

Junior Year: Database SQL Modeling and Programming (Dual Enrollment with NOVA), APUSH, AP LANG, Physics, Functions Trig, Econ and Finance, Pre AP Spanish 4

ONLINE SCHOOL: Earth Science, U.S Government

My courses for Senior Year will be: AP Enviromental Science, AP Stats, AP CALC AB, AP LIT, Weight Lifting, Spanish 5, Sociology

My current weighted GPA: 3.8

My SAT: 640 Math, 600 Reading, 640 Writing Total of 1880

ACT: 28 on my first try and I was unprepared, and I will take it again…

Clubs/Activities: JV Soccer, Indoor Track and Field, National Spanish Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Key Club

I’m also a soccer coach and a referee

Leadership: I was Key Club Representative for 2 years and I am currently Key Club Treasurer

So please tell me my odds!

You should improve your SAT scores to be in the 2000+ range to be considered for acceptance!

W&M ED: Reach (at 28 on the ACT it’s going to be a stretch)

It is a reach, 3.8 should be closer to your unweighted GPA, not weighted. Also, you need to pick up your standardized test scores. You can do it! Study hard for your upcoming standardized tests!

While it does look like a reach at this point, there are plenty of things you can do to raise your odds. First, is as others have recommended is to raise your standardized test scores. Currently they fall on the lower end of the spectrum, but it is possible to raise them by the time admissions comes around. Second, William & Mary offers on campus interviews. It is a great way to express that it is your top choice and show who you are besides what can be seen on paper. Lastly, you can write a knock out essay, it will improve your odds tremendously because they really want to know who you are as a person

How far of a reach is it? I took hard classes, I do a lot of extracirriculars…

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it is a high reach with the current information. If those are your only EC’s, that’s below average for W&M. Also, until your ACT gets to 30+ and your SAT to 2000+, I don’t think you have much of a chance at all. Sorry!

Get your test scores up and write an awesome essay and all improve ur chances, rn they are pretty low
