I'm thinking about applying for Early Decision to Wharton UPenn BUT I don't have any SAT II tests taken... Is that really bad? and if I take the SAT II tests in November and rush it, will that be a disadvantage? I think I screwed everything up with these tests... :(

it wouldnt be great but do you have any other options? I suppose you could take the ACT in Sept, ace it, and submit it instead (many schools ask for either SAT2s or ACTs)

but why wouldnt you have already taken SAT2s? If your a serious applicant to UPenn you should be on top of things like that.

Are there any disadvantages to submitting ACT scores as opposed to SAT scores?

its not quite as good as submitting SAT2s on time but im sure its better than submitting them late

Take the SAT II in October.

"but why wouldnt you have already taken SAT2s? If your a serious applicant to UPenn you should be on top of things like that."

I took my SAT II exams October 6, 2007. MIT's application deadline: November 1, 2007.

I'm kind of in the same boat.. I was looking to apply early decision but i havent taken the sat IIs yet. I was planning on retaking the SAT in Oct because I am not happy with my score (2000), and know I will need to raise it. So do you recommend submitting my current SAT score, and taking the SAT II in October which will give me time to submit it early decision, or should I just take the ACT in September and hope I do better than I did on the SAT?

I would only take SAT2s in subjects in which I have taken AP classes in (US: 800 Bio: 800) if you have APs under your belt its not so hard to knock an SAT2 out of the ball park and I would go for those in Oct. If you dont have APs in relevant classes, or you didnt do well in those classes, I would take the ACTs.

Taking the math level 2 exam requires absolutely no AP experience. Taking chemistry requires a basic chemistry class (I got 770 without ever covering acids/bases, equilibrium, titrations, or any of the AP topics).

math excluded

but as far as chem..I'm just saying what i would do. It would make me awfully nervous to take any college board test without the max amount of information behind me.

so then do you think i should just apply with my SAT score as is (2000), and take the subject tests in October in time to submit them for early decision as opposed to taking the ACT and submitting that instead (assuming I do better on it than my SAT)

Early Decision candidates should take these examinations either during the junior year or in the summer before the senior year, but no later than November 2008. Early Decision candidates who opt for November examinations must rush their test scores to us.

It's up to you, but unless you feel a lot more comfortable with the ACT, I would take the Math Level 2 exam and another of your choice (a language if you know one).

ok thanks for the advice
