So, anyone care to discuss the advantages (I know the disadvantages) of applying ED? Does it really help tip the odds a bit more in an applicant's favor? My D has really fallen in love with Elon and can totally imagine herself there, and it feels right from a parent's point of view, too. (Except that there is not as much diversity as I would like to see, it seems like a perfect fit.)

Elon’s EA and RD admissions rate is around 50%. Their ED admissions rate is nearly 80%.

I think that tells you all you need to know.

We felt that it was an advantage to be finished on December 1. That made for a relaxing winter. My son also got his first choice of housing. Not that it really concerned him, but a nice perk. We also enjoyed attending the spring orientation weekend in March, knowing that he was going to Elon, and we could just relax and enjoy.

The only disadvantage was a little twinge of wondering what his other results would have been. But, that was not a big deal. He made the right choice for himself and we are very pleased.

80%? Yup, that combined with all the other wonderful things about the university really does make a compelling case. I keep feeling it’s the right place for her (hope the admissions office agrees!) and yes, being finished Dec. 1 would be amazing. Thanks, y’all!
