Early Decision

Early Decision- Is it just another way to give wealthy students an additional advantage in the college admissions process?

Early decision may be a Godsend for some, but for many low-income students, Early Decision is not an option because of the fear of being forced to go to a college one cannot afford, even though it may be that student's first choice. This is why some colleges feel that Early Decision should be abolished. Do you think this is true? Do you think it is moral?

Can't you back out of ED if they do not offer enough financial aid? I'm gonna need aid, so I'm very interested in the answer.

As far as I know, the college not being able to match your need is the only way to get out of ED.

What happens if you get accepted ED but for some reasons decide to attend a college outside America?

I'm not an expert, but...
I'm pretty sure that ED is binding no matter where the other colleges you're accepted at are located. Wanting to attend a college in another country isn't a compelling enough reason to break an ED acceptance. That's why ED's a tough choice, because it really means committing yourself, even if other things come along.
