what exactly does the early decision plan mean...do most college have it?

Early Decision: you apply and agree that you will attend if accepted. Can ED to only one college. If accepted, you withdraw any apps to other colleges. Majority of colleges do not have ED, but many high ranks do. You get decision usually in December.

Early Action: similar to ED but you are not bound to attend if accepted.

Regular Decision: college makes decisions to admit after all apps are received and usually sends out decisions between Feb and April. Many RD schools have ED or EA which give you an earlier decision.

Rolling Admissions: college starts making decisions while applications are still coming in and you often get decision within a few weeks after you apply. Many colleges have this including majority of public universities. Some rolling admissions schools have ED but it is kind of pointless since you will find out whether you are accepted quickly even without ED.

so is it easier to get in a college through ED, EA than RD or does it matter?
