What exactly is the JHU acceptance rate?

Now I'm applying for electrical engineering & i know that biomedical engineering is a very competitive major at their school. would it be easier on me?

I believe it is somewhere around 25%. Not sure about the second part of your question though.

i know that’s the regular decision acceptance rate.
what is the early decision one??

it was around 50% last year.
I think like 47% or something around there. Might be lower this year though.

I’m 90% positive that last year’s acceptance rate was 42% and that this year’s acceptance rate was 48%.

Yes, BME is a/the only major which is competitive in terms of being able to be that major. If you want to try for BME, put it on your application with no harm done, as even if you are rejected from BME, you may still be accepted to the University. If you want to do BME but apply as another major, bear in mind that it will be extremely difficult to get into BME post-matriculation.

in that case do u wanna chance me for early decision?

Considering the early decision acceptance rate is about 45-50%, do you think I would get into Electrical Engineering at JHU with good essays and recommendation?

come on guys
i know you can help me out here!!

Bump anyone?!

JMO… DS has better stats and we consider it a “probably not” for him.

so you dont think id get in?

my D has exactly the same sat as you: 2000 and act: 31 gpa: 3.8 wgpa: 5.8, and we are crossing our fingers for the best… i think it’s a 50/50% chance!!! she is not applying to Engeneering, it’s the only difference with you! well, pray for good news!! good luck!

My Son has pretty much the same stats – a little higher CR and W, slighly lower M on the SAT, and a 33 on the ACT. I feel no confidence whatsoever and just want this whole process to be over. :)

^ me too!!!

JHU is pretty selective, so we wouldn’t consider it a “probably” unless his stats were pretty close to the top of the 50% ranges. Collegeboard shows CR 740, M 770, W 740, ACT 33, GPA 3.7.

^^ Son did not submit SAT’s for that very reason. But we still don’t consider it a probably. He would be low side of that 50% SAT, but a pretty good bullseye in there on his GPA and ACT. So, we’ll see what happens!! (Bad news is I think he checked BME major. The good news he is got another ltr of rec from his AP bio who has a double PHd and taught at Williams)

^^^Checking BME as a major of choice wouldn’t inhibit his chances though. Even if he didn’t get into BME he would still be considered for regular admission.
