Hello, I was wondering if it was possible to apply early decision to Cornell as well as applying to other non-restrictive early action schools.

The short answer is yes.
You absolutely may, though if you get accepted to Cornell ED, you must withdraw all other applications and enroll at Cornell.

That isn’t true, you may only apply to a single ED school.

Taken directly from the Cornell admissions website:
“Remember that an early-decision application is a commitment. You can apply under early decision to only one college or university. If you’re accepted at Cornell, you must withdraw any applications sent to other schools and send your acceptance deposit by the deadline in early January.”

Bro, you should read the first and second posts again, and then read your response. And then delete it.

Sorry, I see what the OP and ChandlerBing meant.

Oh okay thanks.
I was confused because I thought maybe Cornell’s ED policy is different from other schools.
I guess I’ll just try to speak with a Cornell representative in person next time to see if I get the same response.

Do many people apply ED for Cornell and also apply EA for UChicago? Since it seems to be a very popular school among those who apply to Cornell.

I think they do, though I didn’t apply to UChicago EA. I just didn’t feel a connection with UChicago’s perspective, though it is an amazing school as well as Cornell.

Good luck with Cornell ED. I applied to Cornell under ED and got deferred, and then accepted RD. So if you end up getting deferred, do not lose hope!

wait CHANLDER?! ***

you got in?! i didnt know! congrats man :D

glad you’re being casual about it :)

Yeah I did, man!!! I was so psyched.

Haha, thanks. Though it’s in tough competition with Williams for where I want to matriculate. Cornell decided I wasn’t qualified for aid, which wasn’t good. Though I do get in-state tuition at Human Ecology (tg).

Oh, and I saw that amazing thread supporting me and hoping I get in, it was awesome!
Now I have a ridiculously tough choice on my hands… though I’m leaning towards Williams (sorry! :(), Cornell will be so tough to pass up. I mean, come on, it’s CORNELL.

what are you studying at williams?

you could always transfer…although…:(

Congrats Chandler!

Hmm. If I do get deferred from Cornell, and get accepted from UChicago EA, should I turn them down and wait for a decision from Cornell?

Ohh and what would be your major in HumEc?
Should I apply to CALS or HumEC if I want to go pre-med?

Neither college is better than the other for pre-med students. However, the mission and graduation requirements of each college are very different. Choose your college based on your intellectual interests and fit with the mission.
