Early Decisions/action

Hello. When is the lastest date to take an SAT 1 or SAT 2 test for early action/decision? I was planning to apply early to MIT.. Is waiting until november doable?

Yes, probably--always check the school to make sure, of course, but most schools take the November tests for EA/ED. However, I would strongly suggest that you not leave required testing to this last date--people can and do get sick/oversleep/get snowed out/have a terrible proctor/etc. and it is always good to have a cushion. A November retake is fine, but do everything in your power not to leave required testing to the last date. It isn't as big a deal for EA--you can always push your app back into the regular decision round--but it's generally not a good idea. Better safe than sorry!!

No the October test is the latest test date for applying ED. Results can be delayed and colleges want all appication materials by Nov 1. Don't take chances with being deferred to the regular round because you SAT scores weren't in your admissions folder.

I agree--but most schools say that they will still accept November scores, at least in theory.

well, if you want to be SURE that they have the results in time for consideration, don't wait that late to take a test. Just words of advice from the mom of a college freshman.

i already took the SAT 1's already and got 2010.. and i'm take sat 2 ush this june and waiting untill october to take sat 2 physics and math.... The only reason I want to take a november test is to try to hit over 2100 on sat1... does that sound reasonable?? And if I dob't do well on math or physics.. I can take it in november...

Higher SAT scores are MUCH more important than SAT II's for college application consideration. Are you taking Physics this year? If so, I suggest you take the Physics test in June, while the material is still fresh and take the SAT again in Oct.,then take the Math SAT II in Nov when you have more math under your belt. Colleges ask for no more than 3 SAT II scores.

MIT accepts scores from the Nov test date for early action.

MIT requires two SAT II be done for admission. Make sure you get that done by Nov as well. http://www.mitadmissions.org/topics/apply/standardized_test_requirements/index.shtml
