Early decsion and finacial aid

If I apply early decision and I am accepted does this mean that I am not entitled to apply for financial assistance? Am I contracting that my parents and I can afford without help the full costs?

Absolutely not! My D applied early also. You have the same rights and obligations as any other student applying RD. Rumor has it that anyone who applies ED does not need or care about fin. aid. This is not true! After you are admitted they will send you a fin. aid package. As a matter of fact, the only way out of ED is to say that the college did not meet your full financial need to attend. Best of luck to you. The 15th is coming quickly, and my D is pretty psyched. What major(s) are you interested in, and where are you from?

I am a junior and have another year to go. My parents are in a savings mode. I haven't decided where or if I will apply early decision. However, I did love Amherst and a few other schools on my campus visits. Next year I will do overnights and class visits. I think that statistics clearly show that early decision acceptance percentages are a lot better than regular decision.

I am from the philly suburbs. I do want to attend one of the liberal arts schools.I have no interest in the Ivy schools. Right now I am enjoying high school and all of the great ec's and sports I am in to. But the whole college thing is an exciting but scary adventure.

Thanks for your information.

Danashu, best of luck in your endeavors. As I said before, My D has applied ED to Amhesrt and will be hearing in about two weeks. She loved the atmosphere, the size, and the fact that students take clases because they want to not because they have to. The 5 college consortium was great as well. It's a great school, but very difficult to get into. Keep working hard, challenge yourself, and work on those essays. Best of luck.

If you apply for financial and are eligible for financial aid, you will receive financial aid. Applying ED means that you just commit to attend if admitted and you really give up the opportunity to compare offers from other schools, so you never know what might have been.
