I sent in my RD application to Wes in late November because it was commonapp only. In mid-December I got an email from the Dean of Admissions saying that while admissions decisions weren't ready, she was impressed the diversity of my extra-curriculars. From her phrasing it was clear it was not a form letter. Is part of the reason I got this because of how early I sent my app? Did anyone else received a similar email. (if your curious, I was eventually admitted---congratulations to all the '13ers!)

yep. Mine said she like my essay cuz it were personal… also applied in Nov RD. Are you going to Wes?

Why are you superbummed?

(You got into Wesleyan!!!)
Nah, I’m just kidding.

I am serious about being curious concerning the name though.

…because I registered my name for this website shortly after March 31st.

I was rejected from every single ivy I applied to (Brown, Cornell, Columbia) and waitlisted from Chicago after my interviewer told me “when you get in, ask me about housing”. Although I’m happy about Wes, it was kind of anti-climactic after getting an email in December. It was hard for me finding out that every single school that I spent large amounts of additional time working on for fell through. Plus, I went through this process as least “playing the game-y” as possible (no individualized application coaching, I did activities that I genuinely enjoyed even if they offered no quantifiable award/reward) and I wonder still if the means justify the ends.

Yeeup! The choice boiled down to Honors at Umich vs. Wes. There was no comparison in terms of individualized attention and quality of life between the two.
