Early Entrance to College Decision: Univerity of Washington or Bard College at Simon's Rock?

@onthewestfence Thank you! Great points, and I am definitely leaning towards UW.

@MWolf Wow! Thank you for such a detailed response–I really appreciate your time and insight. And I am definitely leaning towards UW!

UW Academy has relationships with the various UW honors programs.

In any case, when it comes to class size, that really depends on the class.
A huge public like UW will have a ton of classes, both big and small, with many seminars. You will also find that upper-level classes will tend to be smaller.

Also check out the syllabus of classes you are interested in and see if you can handle them.

Also, I can’t figure out how to edit my post (this is like my second post on the forums), but I was offered a full ride for two years at UW. So, that information pretty much made my decision for me–I will be attending UW! Thank you all so much for your help. I really appreciate your time and thoughtful responses!

Depends on the course. For example, a year long AP psychology course in high school tends to be seen as covering similar material as a one semester introductory psychology course in college.

Also, some courses at a community college may cover more advanced material than AP courses (e.g. math courses covering multivariable calculus, linear algebra, differential equations).

The Academy at UW is really a fantastic program where you will be well cared for, as a high school student and
eased in gradually. Also, the other high school kids in your program are likely to be good social friends. It does
get you graduated from college at a very young age, so you will have a slight disadvantage at age 19 if you try to apply for permanent jobs. But since you want to go to graduate school, probably a plus for you! Good luck.

I wish colleges in Colorado would consider such a fine academy program, but UW Seattle is one of the few early entry college programs in the nation. In most states, you could dual enroll, but its not as well organized as the Academy at UW.

You will miss high school Prom, and some high school activities, but it seems you have made up your mind! Congratulations!

Thank you!

@damon30 I guess those years at Bard College didn’t turn out like he planned?
