Early Evaluation

you shouldve applied ED!

I know, I should have… but my essays wouldn’t have been very good! I needed the time to write the essay haha I am pretty pleased with the essays I submitted for EE, though. Hopefully they’re good enough!

Also financial aid is a must for me (though I know that W gives very generous aid). Oh well. I hope applying EE has some weight in lettin the adcoms that I really am interested in W.

Hey guys, i have a question concerning my midyear report. My school doesn’t issue midyear reports but on my app status check page, Wellesley hasn’t mention that the midyear report is ‘waived’ for me or anything along those lines - it just says they haven’t received it. I emailed Wellesley around 2 weeks ago trying to clarify the whole thing, but nothing has changed with my application and I haven’t received a reply. Should I give it a few more days and then call them? Or should I just leave it? What do you guys think?

I would suggest calling the admissions office.

Phone calls always give you answers, whereas emails can be (conveniently) ignored. If you have a question about your application, it’s best to get an answer about it, rather than risk jeopardizing your application as a whole.

Yeah - I just ended up calling the office and everything is ok. thanks guys :)

soooo when do you think we’re getting decisions?? sometime late next week??? it’s so soon…i’m so nervous!!

me too!! last year was around the 22nd, i think, so im thinking we’ll have to wait two weeks.

good luck everyone!!

thank you thank you!

question: are likely letters actually letters? or do we find out via the tracker?

I heard they were actual letters and you got lots of awesome goodies with them too. I applied RD though so I could be wrong…

cool.

question: should i send in another personal essay? i have two, and they both cover different aspects about me…do you think it would help if i sent in the other as well?

Anyone know when we’ll hear back concerning EE? I checked last year’s EE thread and saw that people received emails regarding when results will be available around Feb. 10. Has anyone heard anything. I’m so anxious!!

wg90201 - I’m pretty sure c/o 2013 found out EE results online. Not sure if they received a letter also, though!

I just received this email 2 minutes ago (Yes, really! I came over here to see if anyone else had):

February 11, 2010

Dear (Prussia):

I am delighted that you have applied to Wellesley. The Board of Admission is currently reviewing your application under the Early Evaluation Plan, and because Early Evaluation differs slightly from other admission plans, I want to explain how your application will be handled in the next few weeks.

A team of readers from the Board will evaluate your file and then meet as a committee to determine the likelihood of your admission to Wellesley. You will receive one of three possible evaluations. (1) If you are among the top group of applicants, you will receive notification indicating that it is likely you will be admitted in the spring. Students in this highly selective group represent the very best applicants in our pool. (2) In some cases, however, an early assessment is difficult to make. If you are in this category, you will receive notification saying that it is possible you will be admitted. The students who are placed in the “possible” category may or may not be admitted in March and could be placed on our wait list or refused. In the recent past, Wellesley has accepted slightly more than 25 percent of students in this category. (3) If the committee determines that your candidacy is not strong in our pool this year, we will notify you that it is unlikely you will be admitted in the spring. Candidates in this group are typically refused admission in March.

You will receive an email next week that includes a reminder of your personal ID and PIN number and instructions on viewing your Early Evaluation notification on a secure website. If you do not receive this message, please contact us by telephone at 781-283-2270. Early Evaluation results will be available on Wednesday, February 24, at 5 p.m. EST.

Please note that your senior year performance is taken into consideration as part of our evaluation of your credentials. Senior grades are important to us because they reflect your continuing academic commitment. We ask that you keep this in mind as you approach your studies in the next few weeks and follow up with your counselor to make sure we receive your Mid-Year Report and transcript.

Please also note that your final admission decision letter will arrive in late March. On behalf of the entire Board of Admission, I want to thank you for your interest in Wellesley. Please feel free to get in touch with us if you have further questions.

Sincerely,

Jennifer C. Desjarlais
Dean of Admission and Financial Aid

AHHH. So nervous, but I have a suspicion that I’m going to get a “possible” letter. :/

I’ve received that email too. Wellesley is on the very top of my list so I REALLY want to see a “likely” on Feb.24th…
But trust me 12 days will pass like a flash…if you stop thinking about it : )
