Early Graduation

I live in Ohio, but I would really like to go to Berkeley or UCLA. I am thinking about doing rotc, so that might cover a good part of my tuition and I can also get financial aid. Although, my school offers early graduation (3.5 years). Is it possible for me to apply early from Ohio, move to california and get residency and then go there for a cheaper price. Is this possible and how soon do I get accepted if I apply for early acceptance, because I dont want to move there and not get in.

also, do I get full credit for my senior year classes or only half credit for doing only a semester. Should I plan four years of classes in three years?

It’s not that easy, or everyone would do it.

Then you can take dual-enrollment classes for free at a lot of colleges in Ohio, including some private ones. I don’t know if that’s relevant to you, but I also finished my graduation requirements early and so this year (senior year) my schedule is composed of eight university classes that don’t cost me anything.

I have heard that universities don’t necessarily look favorably on students who choose to graduate in 3.5 years. What will you do with that extra half year? In most cases, I think the universities would prefer that you spend that last semester further preparing yourself for college.

As for credit, check with your school, but I don’t see why you would get a full year’s credit for a half year of class. If you only take the first semester of a 1-credit full year class, you’d probably get a half credit.

Your state of residency will be where your parents live. You cannot just move to CA to gain residency for college. Read the UC website which clearly explains residency requirements.
