I just spoke with a very laid-back-sounding guy from Panther Central, and asked if I could request to move in a day or two early. I'm living in Pennsylvania Hall, and moving in a night early means a cheaper hotel room for my dad.

So when I asked, the guy said, "Yeah, sure, that's no problem. Any day after the 23rd is fine." And I said, "Okay, so what should I do to make sure I'm allowed to move in?" And he said, "Uh, show up?"

Is that for serious? All I have to do is just... move in early? I feel like I have to ask to be put on a list or something... Anyone have experience with this?

It should be fine, especially cause I’m assuming you’re not a freshman. I did the same thing last year. I showed up at Bruce Hall at about 6 PM the night before I was supposed to move in. The official move-in hours were over but I was still able to get into my dorm.

Honestly, nobody’s going to deny you if you don’t show up at your designated time. The only problem you may have is, you may not be able to use your parking pass if it was made for a different day.

You’ll actually have access to your room by then because of freshman move-in/Arrival Survival. Since older students run AS and need to move in early, all the dorms are opened up. So if you show up by the time orientation starts, they don’t really care.

Last year, my roommate moved into our room like a week early. No one seemed to mind!

Awesome. Thanks guys!
