I noticed on the Penn board that some kid was in EA to Harvard and had received "early notofiction" from Yale and NYU. What is this "early notification"? He/she distinguished it from a "likely letter".

early notification = likely letter. The Ivys have to wait until March 31 before they can give out official acceptances.

Sure, Prageur, whatever you say.

What's with the sarcasm?

i think everyone's tensions are running high with the decision date looming...let's all chill :)

Why should Byerly be tense? Isn't he supposed to be a middle-aged Harvard interviewer, not a high school senior awaiting college decisions?

the rest of us are tense... byerly just likes to bash other schools

No, I think Byerly understands reality.

Hahaha.

'Twas me. Early Notification = Likely Letter, I just don't call it that because when I say "Likely Letter" people in my town look at me cross-eyed. But they're the same thing--sorry for the confusion.

Darmouth sends those letters out, too. I know someone who got one last month or so. It basically said that the applicant will definitely be admitted in April.

Dartmouth sends out 500 a year. Harvard and Cornell and Penn also sent them this year.
