Early Regular Admission Decision?

Hey guys, I more lurk around here then anything else but I was curious about this...

I just got a letter accepting me to Fordham due to the admissions office's decision about my status as an "outstanding applicant." I applied regular decision in early December and was completely not expecting a decision until April.

Has anyone else heard of this? Do you know if this increases my chances at getting/ means I'm up for a merit scholarship? What about my chances at the honors program?

Thanks alot!

<3 Erica

I got this too.... I don't anything aside from the fact that I got it.

Minimum SAT (M+V) for merit consideration is 1350

I got exactly a 1350 m+v so maybe it was my SAT scores, thanks Iron Maiden!

that's actually really exciting news, maybe i can look forward to an early acceptance letter, ending my fears that I wont get in anywhere :)

hey guess what, i got that same letter today!

Ah, Congrats!!

I wonder what percentage of applicants really got it, I've never heard of a school doing that before.

Just curious, during the application process were you absolutely besieged by Fordham emails?

what were your GPAs?
I have a similar SAT score but I haven't gotten any such letter, sent in my app before january

@elf: i got one general letter, followed by a large viewbook, followed by the your choice application, but i don't think i ever got emails.

@businessmongrel: my gpa is 4.1 and my app was send late december, hope that helps

its a great feeling to get your first acceptance...now i know im going to go someplace no matter what :)

Congrats to everyone who got accepted!!

a "likely letter" - I believe Fordham wants you to know that you are going to be accepted and they want you to think concretely about coming there next year, so when you are accepted, you are more likely to choose Fordham. I didn't know Fordham sent these, but I think this is a very nice idea. Some people on cc complain about these letters, but it is nice for the student and possibly helpful for the college's yield.

Yeah haha I got this letter, I was quite surprised. Very pleased...so far my first EA school gave me basically no financial aid, and I am by no means rich, so maybe Fordham will give me something...

Well, we don't do GPAs on a 4.0 scale, but my weighted average is around a 95, unweighted 93. I'm 27/229, total SAT 2110. I also had amazing recs and a really good essay. Were you guys around the same?

My rank was 9/720 with a GPA of around a 6.78/7 (weird scale I know). I had a 2000 on the SAT, and a 32 on the ACT. I'm not sure about the other stuff, I did apply with the Your Choice Application.

My school doesn't rank but I am in the top 10% of my class a top public high school. I have a 1350 M+CR and a 2060 combined. My weighted gpa is a 95.8 weighted and I've pretty much taken all honors/AP courses throughout high school.

I wonder what percentage of applicants got one of these letters

what ^ said, can anyone guess what percentage of applicants they gave these letters to?

hmm thats a good question..i got a letter too..i have a 4.0 gpa, 2280 on the SATS (740,740,800), 33 ACT, im assuming good recs, good essay...the letter didnt mention the Honors program..do you think that would be mentioned in the official acceptance? i applied for the 3 + 3 law program at LC

GPA UW- 94.45, weighted-99.33 rank 5/256
SAT 1440/2170

I know some other people at my school applied here...I should see if they got a letter.
