Hey All:
I kind of got a late start in high school. I didn't take that many accelerated classes and my grades were mediocre in most of my classes. But this year, my senior year, I am taking 6 APs and am maintaining As in all of them and am intent on keeping it that way.
I have read on college board's site (Early Decision & Early Action) and heard from other sources that early action/admission may not be a good choice for students who are depending upon a "strong senior fall semester to bring his/her grades up."

My freshman-junior year GPA (unweighted) is 3.5. I have a 2320 SAT and decent extra curriculars. Should I apply early or wait for regular. The two schools I want to apply early to are University of Chicago and Tulane

Is your 3.5 gpa (9-11) 3.5, 3.5, 3.5 or is it 3.2, 3.6, 3.8? If the former, and you can keep your A average, apply regular, if the latter, apply early since it clearly shows progression, plus the counselor can mention your current A in the rec. UChicago and Tulane are on two very different scales though. I bet you’d be good to go at Tulane with any combo of the 3.5.

I had a 3.4 unweighted/4.28 weighted freshman year
I had a 3.71 unweighted/4.85 weighted sophomore year
I had a 3.5 unweighted/4.62 weighted junior year

good question: my class rank is 84 out of 460. I am top 20%

it will be recalculated in time for REGULAR DECISION applications. class rank is based on weighted GPA so my class rank will rise then but it won’t skyrocket

two AP exams
