<p>Dinnertime EST. Around 8 for me.</p>
<p>jrpar: it may be just CC kids getting all the early writes, but 100% of all the applicants at my public school got one.</p>
<p>I think that's a bit... odd.</p>
<p>But yeah, people are definitely going to get acceptance letters on April 1st. I mean, think about it... what are the chances that only rejection letters will be sent out?</p>
<p>Effulgent, I agree, it's unusual. And if I were waiting for a RD decision it would make me even more anxious. I think it's just a coincidence that so many CC kids got early writes this year, and that everyone at your hs got one. The internet is a great thing but sometimes it gives you a skewed view of the world. </p>
<p>There will still be plenty of acceptances going out next week, to students that Williams very much wants in the class.</p>
<p>I'm quite psyched.</p>
<p>So, because I want to procrastinate... My stats:</p>
<p>SAT I: 800 Critical Reading, 800 Writing, 660 Math (I can't count, honestly)
SAT IIs: 800 Spanish, 770 U.S. History, 740 Literature
Rank: 1 out of 124
APs: AP Scholar with Distinction; by the end of the year, I'll have completed eleven courses.
Teacher Recs: We're not allowed to see them, but I assume they were stellar. Pre-slacker days, I was a favorite.
Counselor Rec: Again, we're not allowed to read recommendations. Nevertheless, I hope it was pretty good.
Extracurriculars: I'm a member of a number of clubs, and I'm captain of the school's Knowledge Bowl team, as well as Chief Editor and co-founder of the school's newspaper. I do a lot of swimming in my free time.
Hook: I'm passionate about journalism-- I was an intern at La Prensa, my country's largest newspaper, and I worked with a USA Today correspondent on a feature story about Daniel Ortega. I'm currently hammering out a story on female convicts, again for La Prensa.
Essays: I wrote one about being an odd duckling in my AP English Lit. class (I was a fourteen-year-old sophomore who had been accelerated into a previously all-senior class.) The other essay was about my experiences with the USA Today correspondent-- following Ortega's campaign trail, the interview itself, etc. My father was jailed by Ortega during the Sandinista regime, so meeting Ortega was a strong emotional and intellectual experience.
Location: In case it wasn't obvious-- Managua, Nicaragua, of Iran-Contra infamy.
Other Thoughts: I have a really wry sense of humor, and I can be obnoxiously cheery.</p>
<p>I received an early write letter today! My folder was fedex-ed and dated 3/17. It looks like the letters will keep rolling in so don't be discouraged.</p>
<p>geez...in this other thread, momrath quoted Dean Roseman saying that most Williams students reach a point about 6 weeks in when they feel Admissions has made a mistake and he/she is an imposter...looking at the amazing stats of all the people who got in this year, I can't help having an inkling of the same feeling...</p>
<p>Just a question, you guys..do you think a lack of EC's would kill my chances at Williams?</p>
<p>I have 1530 + 800 Writing for SAT, 790, 780, 750 for SAT II, and 3.8 UW GPA, so my stats are all right, but I don't have very many EC's...just community service clubs, some flute ensemble, and that's about it..</p>
<p>I don't think I had too many EC's, but I had deep involvement in the ones that I participated in. My stats were about the same as yours, perhaps a tiny bit higher. Flute ensemble sounds like a big commitment :)</p>
<p>Um...has anyone tried their blackboard Williams' accounts? I can't seem to get mine working...</p>
<p>whats that?</p>
<p>The blackboard thing: "a special website...set up for admitted students to meet each others and to ask questions of current Williams students..."</p>
<p>Yeah, I can't seem to log in, either...</p>
<p>How did you get a login user/pass anyway?</p>
<p>what blackboard account? I haven't heard of it</p>
<p>In the acceptance letter, it says to check out the blackboard thing. It's supposed to be a board where admitted students can talk...except I can't seem to log in.
The username is your Williams ID and the password is your birthday ...if you are April 1, then password is 0401.
Is this working for anyone?</p>
<p>I lost my Williams ID, so I couldn't try. :(</p>
<p>what's the url for this site?</p>
<p>Make sure you use only month and day, not year of birth for your password. You should be able to get in without a hitch.
Go to: <a href="http://wso.williams.edu/%5B/url%5D">http://wso.williams.edu/</a></p>
<p>Click on blackboard at the top. It will take you to the page to put in username, i,e. Williams numerical ID.</p>
<p>Hmm..
I keep getting this: "An error occurred while the system was processing this login request."
Williams ID is the 7 digit number you got on the purple postcard confirming receipt of your application, right?</p>
<p>i got the same message pretzels</p>
<p>The website works. If the seven-digit numeric ID/username doesn't work for you, you may try getting in touch with Williams to straighten out the problem. Maybe try a different browser or change your browser's security setting.</p>
