Stats:
-3.9 GPA
-32 ACT
-5/230 Rank
-LEDA Scholar (probably what got me in, actually)
-Really involved in my community (Low income urban neighborhood)
-went to DIVOH at Amherst last fall
-I love Amherst, and I really think it came through on my application.

I received my acceptance letter (not a likely letter) today! Dated March 7. They said they sent mine before the established notification date to give me as much time as possible to decide. Yay Amherst! :D

Awesome guys, congrats. Anyone from Cali get one?

Has anyone from Georgia gotten one yet?

Got my early write today!!!

^^ Yeah I’m in GA and got my acceptance today.

amherst also sent likely letters? man, am i flattered to have been outright accepted

^They don’t – they only send early write acceptances and regular.

Do they send these to international students? via email? Because hell knows, could take the better half of the month for snail mail to get to where I am.

I’m with Lucidwolfe: does anyone know if Amherst sent these to internationals? Mail from the US takes ages to reach here.

If this would be helpful to anyone, here are some of my objective stats:
SAT I: 2340
SAT II: 750 Lit, 730 Math II
GPA: 4.0 UW
Course Load: most demanding, although my school offers very very few AP classes.
APs: 5 on AP Calc AB, 4 on AP Bio. Self-studying AP Lit and also taking AP Calc BC and AP Chem this year.
No major awards to speak of.
PM me if you want more subjective stats (extracurriculars, essays, etc). Congrats to everyone!

Any people on the west coast get anything yet?

Do they send these to international students? [/qupte]

Yes Amherst does send early writes to internationals. At least one CCer from Canada (British Columbia) got one last year. He was a HYP cross-admit though. The mail took 8 days to arrive for him.

Did your early acceptances include financial aid awards?

No, we’re still waiting for that part.

MANY Amherst matriculants were cross-admits for HYP but chose Amherst. Amherst is not a “consolation” prize.

^My point was that the applicants have to be at the very top in order to get early writes. I am fully aware of the selectivity of Amherst and will be ecstatic if I get in.

Yes daiviko. I live in Washington, and I received my acceptance letter yesterday.

Dang. I will remain hopeful by telling myself it’s just because I’m a recruited athlete.

daiviko, I’m a recruited athlete as well and haven’t gotten anything yet. The coach told me that I was in, so I’m surprised not to receive anything in writing. Was the coach explicit with you, too?
