@ammoopi My stats are here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1790828-chance-me-though-it-does-come-down-to-luck-for-the-top-schools.html#latest
The only addition to it is Intel STS Semifinalist.
Hope this helps!

I got the email earlier today — my stats are reasonably good (4.0, 2370, head of a few clubs), but not absurd. That being said, I do have legacy, which counts for a lot at Amherst. I can give more detailed stats if anyone is interested but at this point I don’t think it’s healthy to obsess. Either you’ll get in or you won’t, but there’s not much you can do now (which, admittedly, is a philosophy that’s easier to accept after you’ve gotten in).
Congrats @16elir! Will you attend or are you waiting on other decisions?
thanks, @bsalum. I applied to 13 schools and I’m still waiting to hear from 10 of them, so I will make my decision after I hear back.
to the people who go them - were you notified by snail mail, email, and/or by your application portal?
@smythe i checked my portal (after seeing someone mention it on this forum) and had a letter on March 10. then, on march 11, i got an email notifying me that it was on the portal. the letter on the portal mentioned a package that’s in the mail now.
Do they come in waves?
I think they probably come all at once, although of course I don’t know anything for sure
Congrats to everyone who got one! Under what heading of your portal where the likely letters?
@Ballerina11 “Admission Decision Update” under “Admission Information” on the Applicants Menu. It says “View your letter here” for me.
I got an early write as well! I am located in WA. Stats are:
ACT: 35
3.94 GPA (unweighted)
Have taken 13 AP’s
Mediocre EC’s (3 clubs, competitive swimming (not a recruit), and volunteering)
Strong Common App essay.
Best of luck to all of you!
I got one too! Totally wasn’t expecting it.
I’m from CA but have been studying Arabic for the past 3 years in the Middle East.
How many applicants get these Early Writes? What made the admissions committee say that they wanted to give me one? Does anyone know how this whole process works?
I got one!!
I know its probably too late, but do these early writes come in waves?
No - they usually come all at once. It’s likely that any school that does early writes has already sent them out, especially as we get closer to decisions.
Hello everyone. I am an international student and was deferred in the early round. I didn’t receive an early write. Does any one know if I still have a chance? Best luck to all of you!
There are a lot of really good candidates that did not receive early writes. The fact that you were deferred instead of rejected would tend to indicate you still have a chance. I would not say that your chances have really changed because of the early writes.
Anyone know anything about the Schupf Scholars program (like how many get offered it, is this the only scholars program, are there any pros in addition to the funding…?.)? I got an invitation yesterday (a week and a bit after my early-write).
5-6 people get offered the Schupf Scholarship. You get assigned a faculty mentor in addition to your advisor. You also get invited to meet with faculty and deans throughout the year at Schupf dinners and receptions. Lastly, you are taken under the wing of Axel Schupf, prominent Amherst alum who funded the scholarship program (along with lots of other things at Amherst). My D is Schupf Scholarship and it’s a bit mysterious, basically it means you get a some extra attention from various senior people, as well as the funding.
@toofless – I got the Schupf scholarship email too. I’m just waiting to hear from my other schools before I decide, but it sounds like a really cool opportunity. Is Amherst your first choice?
